Scheduling T and Cross Intersections in Joint Runs

BULDX product guides2 min read

A joint quantity schedule should identify T junctions, cross intersections and directional changes as separate coordination items. Straight running metres do not describe how a multi-branch joint will meet at an intersection.

Selection considerations

Number each intersection on the plan and show the branches that connect to it. Record the opening and finish level on every branch. Two runs with the same visible cover width may still use different backing assemblies or movement elements, so visual similarity is not a compatibility check.

Ask for a coordinated junction detail from the selected system supplier. Clarify which pieces are supplied, which fabrication is allowed on site and which tolerances need to be checked. Do not assume a connection adapter in the catalogue forms every possible T or cross arrangement.

Keep the intersection schedule beside the straight-length take-off. During delivery inspection, cross-check the location IDs against the accessory packages. Review the junction before finishing hides its connections and photograph the approved assembly for the handover record.

Before you specify or order

  • Give every junction a location ID
  • Record all branch configurations
  • Obtain a coordinated junction detail
  • Match accessory packages to the plan

Common question

Can straight profiles simply be mitred into a cross junction?

Only where the selected system documentation and project detail permit that arrangement. A visual mitre alone does not establish functional continuity.
