Door kick plates: dimensions to confirm before ordering
A door protection plate should be scheduled against the door leaf, hardware and opening arrangement. Its width is not automatically the width of the door opening.
Selection considerations
Measure the leaf and locate handles, seals, hinges and vision panels. Establish which face needs protection and whether plates are required on both sides. The lower edge and fixing method must be coordinated with the door construction and maintenance instructions.
State material, thickness, finish, plate dimensions and the approved fixing method in the order. Avoid treating a decorative plate as evidence of a fire-door approval. Any modification to a rated door should follow the door-system documentation. Label each item with the door reference so similar-looking plates arrive at the correct opening.
